Global Spectrum VP says city's venues 'under-served'
Company bidding to manage 7-facility complex
The vice president for development for Global Spectrum, the company that's bidding to manage the seven venues owned by the city, said it's time for a change in management for those venues.
Todd Glickman said the seven-facility complex, which includes EverBank Field, Veterans Memorial Arena, the Baseball Grounds of Jacksonville and the Prime Osborn Convention Center, is a "gem" that's "under-served."
Glickman said some good acts and events are bypassing Jacksonville as a result.
He said Global Spectrum currently manages 113 facilities in the U.S., including in Philadelphia and Phoenix.
Glickman said he knows the Jaguars have recommended the city keep SMG to operate the facilities, but he insists the process is not over and that Global Spectrum, if given the chance, will increase the revenue stream for the city by bringing more acts, shows and events to the River City.
