Day 4 of the partial government shutdown... and there are NO signs it will be resolved before the weekend. Now... MORE PEOPLE are feeling the effects. Right now in Washington... The Obama administration says it supports House legislation to give backpay to federal workers furloughed during the current partial shutdown. But the White House is opposing other piece-meal efforts by House Republicans to restore money to some functions of government during the shutdown. White House officials say the House should reopen the entire government and not pick agencies and programs over others. But as the shutdown continues...So do the furloughs...And as Channel 4's Kumasi Aaron found out ... it's causing problems for local people dealing with the I-R-S. She joins us LIVE ... Glenda Michinok drove from Fruit Cove hoping to get printed transcripts from the IRS.Her daughter started college this year and needs them to qualify for grants. GLENDA MICHINOK/AFFECTED BY SHUTDOWN 13:48:59-11 It's frustrating because you know I paid college out of pocket this semester for her and I'm trying to get this done because if I don't get it done before the semester is through I'm probably not going to get reimbursed. One by one people came here only to be turned around.Anthony Ballard tried to pay his taxes, but got a message security instead. ANTHONY BALLARD/AFFECTED BY SHUTDOWN 13:27:38-45 He told me id have to wait they let people know when they are going to open again to pay my taxes at this building. And with the end of this shutdown no where in sight, no one is quite sure when that will be. But many are hopeful it will happen sooner than later. GLENDA MICHINOK/AFFECTED BY SHUTDOWN 13:48:05-12 I guess were going to have to try again next week hopefully it'll be open 10 because it's a real drive coming all the way out here. 3 The underlying tax law remains in effect, and all taxpayers should continue to meet their tax obligations as normal. The IRS will accept and process all tax returns with payments, but will be unable to issue refunds during this time. Taxpayers are urged to file electronically, because most of these returns will be processed automatically. 3 3 Kumasi ... are they providing any help for people who come to the building ?
