JACKSONVILLE, Fla. -

A Duval County grand jury Thursday returned a sixth first-degree murder indictment against suspected serial killer Paul Durousseau.

The latest indictment is for the 1999 murder of Tyresa Mack, who was strangled in her Eastside apartment.

Police say they used DNA evidence to link Durousseau to Mack.

He was already facing trial for the murders of five women over a six-week period last winter. He's also charged with killing a woman in Columbus, Ga., in 1997.

"The grand jury returned one additional count of first-degree murder. That count will be moved to be tried with the five-count indictment that was previously returned," State Attorney Harry Shorstein said.

Durousseau faces the death penalty in all the Duval cases.

Police across in Florida, Georgia, across the nation and as far away as Germany are searching old cases to see if Durousseau has any links to other unsolved murders.

Durousseau did not appear in court during Thursday's indictment. He's being held without bond in the Duval County jail.
