Gunmen Rob Cab Driver, Passenger With Child
Published On: Oct 14 2011 02:08:26 PM EDT Updated On: Feb 04 2008 07:46:10 AM ESTA mother told her 4-year-old daughter to get down in the back seat and hide her face as she and the driver of the taxi cab they were in were robbed at gunpoint.
Police said three men surrounded the cab Saturday night in the 2300 block of Spring Park Road, pointed guns in both victims' faces and took off with their cash.
"I'm thinking I'm going to die," said Michael, the driver, whose last name is not being identified because the robbers are still on the loose. "The first thing I saw was the gun and he was, 'Don't look at me,' and I was, like, 'OK, I won't,'" the driver said.
"The thing I heard was, 'Sir, don't you move,'" the mother whose first name is Sharon told Channel 4's Dan Leveton. "I looked up at the gentleman, got a good look at his face. So he took the gun off of Mike and back onto me, and said, 'If you **** look at me again, I'll shoot you.'"
Michael had only started driving cabs four days earlier. He's not sure if he's going to continue.
"I'm thinking to myself, 'Great. Here's what they mean when they say cab driving is a dangerous business,'" Michael said.
Both victims feel lucky they escaped unharmed, but both say they are angry.
"Once you start pulling guns on people, one day someone's going to pull one on you," Michael said.
"Instead of robbing people, get a job, clean your life up, because you're going to get caught," Sharon said.
Anyone with any information about the gunman involved in this robbery are asked to call Crimestoppers at 866-845-TIPS.
