A two-story home in St. Johns County was nearly destroyed after a fire Saturday afternoon, fire rescue officials said.
Crews found the home's garage in the 200 block of Bell Branch Lane on fire with smoke coming from an upstairs window. The family of four and their two dogs were not at home during the blaze. The homes next door were not damaged.
The fire was under control about an hour after the initial alarm. The Red Cross offered assistance to the family, however they opted to stay with friends and family members.
No injuries were reported. The cause of the fire is under investigation.
