A husband accused of shooting and killing his wife appeared in court Sunday morning. Kenneth Lukens has been charged with murder in the death of his wife, Jill Lukens.

Police surrounded the Lukens' Northside home for hours Saturday morning.

Homicide investigators with the Jacksonville Sheriff's Office were called to the scene on Black Angus Drive, in the Sheffield Oaks subdivision near New Berlin Road and Yellow Bluff Road, about 6 a.m.

Investigators believe the shooting was the result of a domestic altercation.

Those who lived near the couple said they were very friendly and well-connected in the community.
