Husband Speaks About Slain Wife
Analiza Gobaton Hit Friday By Stray Bullet
John Gobaton is struggling with the loss of his wife, Analiza. She was hit by a stray bullet while sitting in her SUV on Blanding Boulevard on Friday morning.
"My life is a mess, my life is upside down right now," Gobaton said.
On Tuesday afternoon, police announced they made an arrest in connection with the shooting that took Analiza's life.
"I'm happy to know that he's not going to be a problem and cause this kind of senseless death," Gobaton said of 23-year-old Taurice Brown's arrest.
A senseless act of violence has left Gobaton to raise three children alone.
"My little one doesn't understand that Mom is gone right now," Gobaton said. "The other ones are adjusting, trying to move on as their mom would want them to."
Viewings for Analiza Gobaton will be held Thursday and Friday from 5 to 9 p.m., with Rosary at 6 p.m., at Jacksonville Memory Gardens Funeral Home, 111 Blanding Blvd., in Orange Park.
When Channel 4 asked Gobaton if he had any words for the man charged with killing his wife, he said he hadn't thought about what he would say to him.
"I had to put off my thoughts of anger and justice and put them in God's hands," Gobaton said. "The justice belongs to my God."
Police said they are still looking for a second man who fired shots that morning.
