Published On: Oct 31 2011 05:47:08 PM EDT Updated On: Nov 26 2009 05:11:32 AM ESTA baby was rushed to the hospital Wednesday night when the stroller he was sitting in caught fire.
Jacksonville Fire and Rescue responded to a house fire in the 900 block of West 17th Street in Brentwood just after 8 p.m. Seven people in all had to be taken to area hospitals, including the baby who was transferred to the burn unit at Shands-Gainesville Medical Center and listed in critical condition.
The six other included five children and one adult and were taken to Shands-Jacksonville Medical Center for observation.
Firefighters said it appears an adult was moving a space heater when some of the fuel accidentally spilled out starting the fire. Officials said the father managed to put out the burning space heater before firefighters arrived, and prevented a bigger tragedy.

"Getting the heater out of the house was instrumental. Had this been a different time or in the middle of the night this could have been a lot worse," said JFRD district fire chief Andy White.
Fire officials did not release all of the victims ages at this time but Channel 4 will continue to update this story throughout the day.
