An intruder got away Sunday night after forcing his way into a man's Westside home and pistol whipping him.
Eugene Morton told police it all started with a knock on his door when he and his fiancé were watching television. Morton said he answered the door to a man who told him he had car problems.
Before he had a chance to ask him how he could help, Morton said the man put a gun in his face and things only got worse
"So the next thing you know, he forces his way in and I proceeded to get pistol whipped and he tried to rape my fiancée," said Morton. "I disobeyed his orders to get his attention off her, and that's when I got this whipping. You can see the bruises, I got 12 stitches at Shands."
Channel 4's Crime Analyst, Ken Jefferson said Morton responded the right way up to a point.
"Now, the victim did everything right once the gunman was inside," said Jefferson. "In other words, he complied with the demands of this person up until the point when he tried to rape his girlfriend."
Morton and his fiancé were a little shaken up but are otherwise okay. The intruder ended up leaving empty handed.
Police are asking anyone who knows anything about this crime to call Crime Stoppers at 866-845-TIPS.
