JACKSONVILLE, Fla. -

A house fire in Northwest Jacksonville apparently was started by one of three children home at the time, according to Jacksonville Fire-Rescue.

Firefighters were called to the home in the 1400 block of West 25th Street after 11 a.m. Monday.

First units arriving found heavy fire showing in the home. The children and an adult had gotten out safely.

West 25th Street house fire Firefighters said a 5-year-old did something accidentally to start the fire, which gutted the home.

"The structure itself may be salvageable, but all the belongings are pretty much destroyed," JFRD District Chief Andrew White said.

The family was getting assistance from the Red Cross.
