JACKSONVILLE, Fla. -

Representation for the woman accused of running over and killing a man appeared in court Sunday morning.

Police said they arrested a woman Saturday morning, shortly after she ran over and killed a man on the Westside.

Sgt. Lonnie Mills, a Jacksonville Sheriff's Office homicide detective, said officers were called to McDuff Avenue and Interstate 10 about 4 a.m. Saturday to a crash with injuries at the on-ramp. He said a witness told them she saw a woman in an SUV run over and kill a man later identified as 37-year-old Lamarca Wilcox.

Police said the witness provided officers with a vehicle description and tag number. The witness also told police she overheard the woman say, "I ran over 'Shon. He's not moving. I've got to call 911.'"

Mills said responders found the woman, 39-year-old Vonice Green, at the scene and took her in for questioning. According to the police report, Green initially told the Florida Highway Patrol another car hit Wilcox. The report also says there was damage to the front hood of Green's Tahoe.

Later Saturday morning, police arrested Green and charged her with murder. Investigators said Green and Wilcox were in a relationship and it appeared the two had been in some sort of an argument when Wilcox got out of the car and started walking down the ramp.

Gregory Saltres said he knew Wilcox and Green. He was riding his bike Saturday morning when he stumbled across the crime scene. He said there was a crowd gathered near Wilcox's body.

"They were crying," Saltres said. "The young ladies were. The guy was well known."

Green's bond has been set for $500,000. Court records show Green has been in trouble with the law before. She has been convicted of child abuse, battery and possession of cocaine.

Detectives said they were not searching for anyone else in the case.
