A call about a fire Thursday morning led police to a Northwest Jacksonville house with bullet holes in it and Molotov cocktails and other explosive items outside it.
A woman called 911 around 3 a.m. about a small fire outside of her house in the 7900 block of Rondo Avenue in Moncrief.
When police arrived, the woman had already doused the fire, but there were several bullet holes in the house and officers found multiple Molotov cocktails, as well as other items that could explode, according to the Jacksonville Sheriff's Office.
The bomb squad responded and made sure there was no additional risk of danger before detectives began to investigate.
No one was injured and no suspects were immediately identified.
A neighbor said he heard nine shots fired between 2:30 and 3 a.m., but didn't think too much about it because he hears shots all the time.
"Around here in this neighborhood, that's just the way it is," said Franklin Epperson. "They're real low-key people. I don't understand why anyone would want to do anything to them."
Officers cleared the scene by 8 a.m. but said the investigation would continue.
