Of all the firsts of each new year, one of the best is the first baby.
A 9-pound, 7-ounce boy named Jackson born at 1:09 a.m. St. Vincent's Hospital became Jacksonville's first baby of 2013.
"I thought he was going to come before midnight," said first-time mom Zoe. "We sat all day waiting for him, but he came new year."
Jackson's mom, had actually waited since her due date of Dec. 23. She was scheduled to have a C-section on Thursday.
Zoe says it's special that Jackson was Jacksonville's first baby of the new year, but any similarity between his name and his birthplace is just a coincidence.
"I was probably 3 to 4 months, and I love the name Jackson," Zoe said. "Found out it was a boy and stuck with it. So he's been Jackson for a long time."
