2008: Delta Air Lines merges with Northwest Airlines, creating the world's largest airline and reducing the number of U.S. legacy carriers to five.

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. -

There will be no more nonstop flights to Graceland for Jacksonville Elvis fans.

Jacksonville will lose its nonstop flights to Memphis early next year.

Right now, Delta operates two flights each way each day of the week except for Saturday. Delta is cutting a total of 21 daily departures from Memphis on Jan. 3.

In addition to Jacksonville, Delta is cutting the nonstop service from Memphis to Birmingham and reducing flights to several other southern cities.

Delta has been cutting its flights to Memphis since it merged with Northwest Airlines in 2008.

Delta is the only airline right now with nonstop flights from Jacksonville to Memphis.
