Shad Khan on Jags fans

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. -

Jaguars owner Shad Khan says he wants to set the record straight on what it takes to be a fan of the home team.

Those watching Wednesday's news conference at EverBank Field introducing new head coach Mike Mularkey heard Khan make a comment on his definition of a fan.

"To me a a fan is somebody who's a season ticket holder for the Jaguars. So that is a key definition we need to get out," he said.

That comment didn't sit well with some people who said they're not season ticket holders, but they consider themselves fans.

On Thursday afternoon, Khan sent Channel 4's Sam Kouvaris a statement to clarify his remarks.

It reads: "Certainly, I didn't mean my comments at the news event to be taken the way they've been interpreted. That's on me. I apologize. As I said last night, all it takes to be a Jaguars fan is to love the Jaguars. And if you love the Jaguars, you're the most important person to me and the entire organization."

Khan went on to say he looks forward to seeing all fans next Tuesday at EverBank Field. He said he would love to hear from those who have thoughts on the team or the franchise then.
