Jaguars Lineman Pleads Guilty To DUI

As his trial was to begin on Monday, Jaguars lineman Richard Collier on Monday pleaded no contest to a charge of DUI.

Collier was arrested last November when police said they found him asleep behind the wheel of a car in the drive-through lane of a McDonald's restaurant.

After his arrest, Collier released the following statement: "I would like to apologize to the Jaguars organization for the negative attention that I caused this weekend. I apologize to my family, Mr. and Mrs. Weaver, my teammates and all the Jaguars fans. I wasn't raised to conduct myself in that type of fashion and my family and I have prayed about my situation and I know everything will be okay. I understand my responsibility as a professional athlete and I will learn from my mistake."

Collier was sentenced to six months probation, 50 hours of community service and had his license suspended for six months.

Collier said he's ready to put this behind him.

"Honestly, I been put it behind me. Legally, it's behind me now," Collier said.

Collier joined the Jaguars in 2006 as an undrafted free agent out of Valdosta State University. He lives in Shreveport, La.

Another Jaguars player, Bryan Williams, is scheduled for a trial on his DUI arrest next month, two weeks before the opening of training camp.
