A Jacksonville man will be receiving some extra income after a scratch-off lottery ticket won him a handsome reward.
At the Commonwealth BP in Jacksonville, Michael W. Smith, 65, initially purchased a $3 Monopoly scratch-off ticket and won $5. He decided to buy another ticket, but because he had bought the last Monopoly card, he got two "Lucky $500 A Week for Life" games instead.
"The second ticket I scratched ended up being a top prize winner," Smith said. "I was lucky the store was out of the Monopoly tickets or I would not have tried this game and won this prize."
Smith chose to receive his winnings as a one-time, lump sum payment of $436,801.56.
