JACKSONVILLE, Fla. -

A judge has ruled that attorneys for a Ponte Vedra mother accused of murdering her twin sons can proceed with an insanity defense in the case.

Leslie Demeniuk (pictured, left) is accused of shooting her 4-year-old boys at her parents' Sawgrass condo in March 2001.

Demeniuk's boyfriend told authorities she had switched antidepressants before her sons' deaths.

Defense attorneys argued that prescription anti-depressants and drunkenness caused Demeniuk to shoot her sons in a moment of insanity

On the night of her arrest, her blood alcohol level was almost four times the legal limit for driving.

The state is seeking the death penalty.
