3 Now .. dramatic closing arguments in the trial of Michael Dunn. In the words of assistant state attorney, John Guy, "JORDAN DAVIS DID NOT HAVE A WEAPON .. HE HAD A BIG MOUTH .. AND IT COST HIM HIS LIFE." On the other side, defense attorney Corey Strolla argued that to convict Michael Dunn of murder .. THE JURY MUST BELIEVE DUNN DID NOT HAVE ANY REASON TO BELIEVE HE WAS UNDER THREAT OF BODILY HARM. Right now .. we are looking live outside the courthouse .. Inside, the 12 jurors have just begun deliberating .. they heard 5 days of testimony .. and hours today of arguments from both sides. They must decide whether Dunn committed murder or shot the Wolfson high school student in self defense. This is video of Davis' family entering the courtroom this morning. Now .. they and Dunn are anxiously awaiting the jury's verdict. Channel 4's Vic Micolucci and Hailey Winslow both have been covering this trial all week. Hailey has reaction from inside the courtroom... but first Vic has more on the closing arguments. 3 3 3 3 00-0638-441:23 - 1:27 10:33:28 "There was no stick, no lead pipe, there was no gun that vehicle . What was in that SUV was 4 teenage boys." Assistant State Attorney Erin Wolfson worked hard to convince the jury that Jordan Davis and his friends in the SUV that night...were unnarmed...and sitting ducks. 10:34:38 "JordanDavis didn't stand a chance." Michael Dunn testified yesterday...saying he fired in self-defense after Jordan Davis threatened him and pulled out a shotgun ... a weapon police never found. Prosecutor Wolfson argued that Dunn is the only person to claim to see a gun in the red SUV the teens were in... 10:53:35 nats of gunshot surveillance and photo of car -"Oh my God somebody is shooting!" 10:49:12 "When the defendant pulled out his gun, he shot to kill. 10 shots. 9 of them hitting the car.And he was shooting at point blank range." Wolfson said Dunn fired at the SUV so many times...because he was in a fit of rage...after Jordan Davis disrespected him ...and because he had time to think about it ...and try to diffuse the situation, he's guilty of premeditated first degree murder.11:07:44 "He just shoots over and over and over again. This defendant had sufficient time to reflect on his actions." Then it was Dunn's defense attorney's turn. Cory Strolla argued the burden of proof lies with the state... and their evidence doesn't add up. 13:17:59 "That burden never shifts to Michael Dunn or this table. we don't have to prove a single thing." Strolla said detectives knew the teens fled to an adjacent parking lot before returning to the Gate station where the shooting happened ...but they didn't search there for the weapon Dunn says he saw for several days. 14:20:05 "It's gone, that weapon in that car has been gone since minutes after it happened. It's gone becuase nobody looked for 5 days." 13:33:10 "And who was on scene within minutes? Tommy Stornes' cousin." Strolla continued to argue self-defense...that 17-year-old Davis was getting out of the SUV toward Dunn, when his client was forced to fire. But Dunn's defender said it doesn't matter if a gun was found...or ever existed...he said according to Florida law...Michael Dunn only had to feel his life was in danger to use deadly force.14:22:10 "Michael Dunn must have actually beleived that the danger was real. That's our law. Whether you like it or not." 3 3 1. Did Dunn appear to show any emotion during the closing arguments? 2. And how about Jordan Davis's family .. did you see them reacting at all? 3 3 08-1536-42 CORY STROLLA, DEFENSE ATTORNEY: 13:41:40 "The night of the 23rd, no search, november 24th, no search, november 25, no search, november 26, no search. November 27th!" áááá 13:45:08 "But we don't want you to focus on that. Be mad at that man. He's an angry man!" 13:46:21 "A man who has never pulled his gun in 40+ years has never pulled a gun. A man who has a concealed weapons permit, who could have it holstered on him! 11:56 ERIN WOLFSON, ASST. STATE ATTORNEY: "Today is the day that you all as members of the jury can defin what this defendant did on november 23 2012 ... Michael Dunn may have silenced Jordan Davis but he cannot silence the truth."
