Authorities said they were searching part of the Missouri River in Kansas City, Mo., after getting reports that two adults and possibly a child jumped or went over the side of a bridge there Thursday.
Witnesses said that a female jumped off the Christopher S. Bond Bridge -- which carries Interstates 35 and 29 over the Missouri River -- and a male followed her, Kansas City police and fire officials said.
Some witnesses said a child also went over the side of the bridge, officials said.
The Kansas City Fire Department received a call about the incident around 11:30 a.m. CT (12:30 p.m. ET), Kansas City Fire Deputy Chief Jeff Grote said.
