Man, 24, gets life for robbing woman at store

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. -

A 24-year-old Jacksonville man was sentenced to life in prison this week for an armed robbery last year.

Vontae Alston was convicted on one count of armed robbery.

In June, he and an unidentified co-defendant robbed a 20-year-old woman as she waited for her boyfriend outside a convenience store on Philips Highway.

Alston and the co-defendant used a gun to threaten the woman. The two men demanded her money and then took off.
