A 31-year-old Middleburg man was critically injured in a single-vehicle crash Tuesday afternoon in Union County, according to the Florida Highway Patrol.

Lewis Wilkerson was driving his pickup truck east on State Road 100 approaching Posted Road at about 4:25 p.m. when he drifted off the shoulder of the road, state troopers said.

The truck drove onto a culvert, causing it to go airborne, and it came down on its roof and overturned again, striking some trees with its left side, troopers said.

Wilkerson was flown to Shands Medical Center in Gainesville.

Troopers said blood alcohol content results are pending.
