JACKSONVILLE, Fla. -

Police said an 84-year-old Mandarin woman and her son who they said took her from her home Wednesday were found in Beaufort, SC, late Thursday afternoon.

Police said Richard Dotson and his mother Mary Dotson were found at about 5:30 p.m. and appeared to be doing well.

Lt. Gary Woodward, of the Beaufort County Sheriff's Office, said the two were located at a Marriott Hotel. He said Mary Dotson was taken to a hospital in Beaufort and checked out due to her previous medical concerns. Woodward said she was in good health.

Police said no charges are pending.

Officers had been looking for the woman since Wednesday afternoon after they said she was taken from her home on Grand Lakes Drive by her son.

Witnesses said they overheard her son Richard Dotson, 63, saying Wednesday that he wanted his mother to live with him.

Officers said Mary Dotson was being taken care of by other family members when her son came to her home and took her away. Police said Richard Dotson told his mother's caretakers that he was going to take care of his mom.

Officers said as Richard Dotson was leaving the home with his mother, he pushed his sister and said, "You stole from me." Police said Richard Dotson's son tried to stop him, but his dad clipped him with his car as he was leaving and hurt his arm.
