ST. JOHNS COUNTY, Fla. -

Detectives with the St. Johns County Sheriff's Office said they're looking for a man in connection with an attempted robbery early Friday.

Deputies said the man tried to rob a CVS on State Road 312 about 2 a.m.

An employee told deputies that the man went into the store and bought a lollipop, then ordered the employee to open the cash drawer, deputies said.

When the employee asked him why, the man threatened him and implied that he had a weapon, although it was not seen, deputies said.

The man then reached over the counter, grabbed the phone and threw it at the employee, deputies said. He walked to the adjacent counter, jumped over it and began to chase the employee, who was able to run away, deputies said.

The man then walked out of the store. No injuries were reported.

The attempted robber was described as a black man with short hair and wearing a white, long-sleeve Under Armor shirt and black jogging pants.

Anyone with any information about his identity or whereabouts is asked to call the St. Johns County Sheriff's Office at 904-824-8304 or Crime Stoppers at 888-277-TIPS (8477).
