Man arrested in April DUI crash
4 teens hurt in 2-car crash on County Road 210
A 38-year-old Jacksonville man was arrested Monday on numerous charges in connection with a two-vehicle crash three months ago on County Road 210 in St. Johns County.
Brian Peters, 38, was arrested at his Northwest Jacksonville home by the U.S. Marshals Service and the Jacksonville Sheriff's Office.
Peters is charged with three counts of DUI with serious injury, one count of DUI with injury, two counts of DUI with property damage, and one count each of DUI and possession of drugs and paraphernalia.
He was booked into the Duval County jail with bail set at $36,500.
Investigators said Peters was driving his Chevrolet 3500 van westbound in the left lane of County Road 210 approaching St. Johns Parkway the afternoon of April 24 when he ran a red light and struck a 2010 Chrysler sedan with four occupants that was turning onto County Road 210 from St. Johns Parkway.
The driver of the passenger car, 19-year-old Lauren Penney, was taken to Shands Jacksonville Medical Center with serious injuries at the time. Two of the passengers, 17-year-old Dylan Dodson and 19-year-old Jennifer Hawkinson, were also taken to Shands and Orange Park Medical Center with life-threatening injuries.
The fourth passenger, 18-year-old Jessica Chamberland, was taken to Baptist Medical Center South with minor injuries.
Peters was taken to Baptist South with signs of impairment, St. Johns County deputies said. They said his blood alcohol content was 0.274, more than three times the legal limit.
An arrest warrant was obtained for Peters last week.
