A man accused of decapitating his mother last year was convicted Wednesday of first-degree murder.
Thomas Lester, 55, was arrested in January 2010.
Police said he beat his 81-year-old mother, Vivian Williams, with a blunt instrument, killing her.
During the trial this week, prosecutors showed crime scene photos and said Williams had been decapitated.
A sentencing hearing was set for Dec. 5.
Prosecutors are not seeking the death penalty.
