A 39-year-old Jacksonville man was convicted this week on charges of sexual battery and lewd or lascivious molestation of a 7-year-old girl.
Clifton Brooks sexually abused the girl between 2003 and 2005. Authorities became aware of the crime when the victim told her mother.
Two other girls victimized by the defendant when they were young came forward and testified against him.
Brooks faces a mandatory life sentence. He will be sentenced Feb. 27.
