JACKSONVILLE, Fla. -

A convicted felon has been sentenced to life in prison for the May 2011 burglary and attack on his girlfriend.

Timothy Green was convicted in August on two counts of armed burglary with assault or battery, two counts of aggravated assault, and one count of battery.

Green broke into an apartment on North Liberty Street looking for his girlfriend, and when he couldn't find her, he threatened his girlfriend's sister with a handgun and left. Green then went back to the apartment armed with the gun, searched the home and found his girlfriend hiding in a closet.

Green threatened to kill her if she did not tell him where she was earlier in the evening. Green then tried to strangle the woman.

Green is a convicted felon. He was released from prison in October 2009 after serving a 10-year sentence for armed robbery.
