PONTE VEDRA BEACH, Fla. -

A Ponte Vedra Beach man is recovering at a hospital after suffering a heart attack during The Players Championship last Wednesday.

Doctors said Dwight Elliot is lucky to be alive, thanks to a bystander who saw him collapse and sprang into action.

"When I got to the concert I texted my wife where I was," Elliot said. "I felt wobbly, like I was going to faint or something, and the next thing I remember, I was in the ambulance."

Tyler Messanger was the man who gave him CPR and doctors said saved his life. Elliot said he's thankful he was in a public place with life-saving equipment around.

"If this didn't happen then, like at the supermarket or home, I probably wouldn't be here," Elliot said. "So thankful they had a little stuff at the tournament."

Elliot's doctors say he is doing much better and is expected to be out of the hospital by the end of the week.
