A 59-year-old Lake City man was riding in a motorized wheelchair Friday night when he was struck by a car and killed, according to Lake City police.

Police said James Treadaway was trying to cross South Main Boulevard at Southwest Alamo Drive just before 9:30 p.m. when he was struck.

Police said John Johnson was driving south on South Main Boulevard and was unable to stop when Treadaway crossed in front of him.

There is no crosswalk at the intersection.

Treadaway was pronounced dead at a hospital.
