Man killed, house burned in home invasion

LAKE BUTLER, Fla. -

The victim of a home invasion was killed Friday after three people beat him and burned his trailer down, Union County deputies said.

Deputies said the home invasion happened at Northeast 118th Street in Lake Butler at about 8:30 a.m.

Deputies said three people entered the trailer and found the victim. They then beat the man and possibly stabbed him several times, deputies said.

The home invaders also pulled the victim's wife out of bed and beat her, deputies said. They said the home invaders also broke valuables inside of the home.

After dragging the victim out of the trailer, the group set it on fire, deputies said.

Investigators said a dispute over a driveway construction job the day before led to the killing.

The victim was taken to Shands Medical Center in Gainesville, where he died. His wife suffered minor injuries. A 3-year-old child was also home at the time but was unharmed.

The home invaders left the home in the victim's car, deputies said. Investigators said they found the car burned in Bradford County.

Two persons of interest were detained and were being questioned by police.
