Jury selection will resume Tuesday in Flagler County court for Quritus Lowe II in the 2007 killing of a retired teacher in Palatka.
A change of venue was granted for the trial, which is a death penalty case.
Lowe is accused of killing 58-year-old Myrtle McKinney. Gytonia Cheek, his co-defendant, is not on trial.
McKinney was found dead in her home on Christmas Day by family members who went to pick her up for dinner.
Investigators called it a "brutal murder."
Police said they received tips that helped lead them to the arrests.
