Man pleads not guilty in couple's killing
2 men arrested last week, months after bodies found in woods
Tyreyon Washington and Emanuel Presley appear in court.
One man charged in the killings of a newlywed couple pleaded not guilty at his arraignment Monday morning.
Tyreyon Washington, 19, is charged with murder in the deaths of Jeanette Hawkins, 36, and Ricky Morgan, 31. He's being held without bail.
The couple's burned bodies were found off South Myrtle Avenue near Harper Street in late August, about two weeks after they were reported missing.
At the time, investigators said it appeared the bodies had been in the woods for nearly a week. An autopsy found both victims were shot to death.
Emanuel Presley, 24, the second suspect in the killings, made his first appearance in court Monday afternoon. He is also being held without bail.
Washington and Presley were arrested last week.
According to their arrest reports, Washington admitted to planning, kidnapping and killing the couple.
Jacksonville Sheriff's Office Lt. Rob Schoonover said last week that drugs were a factor in the couple's deaths, but he did not give any other information because the case remains under investigation and other arrests are expected.
