James Taylor
JACKSONVILLE, Fla. -

A 26-year-old man who broke into a Jacksonville Beach home and beat a man with a crowbar was sentenced Friday to 11 years in prison.

James Taylor must serve a minimum mandatory of 10 years.

He pleaded guilty to charges of attempted felony murder and armed robbery earlier this month.

In March, Taylor and his co-defendant, Nicholas Warren, broke into the home and beat Matthew Longhway, then tried to shoot him, but the gun jammed each time the trigger was pulled.

Warren faces life in prison. He will be sentenced next month.
