A man who tried to burglarize a Best Buy was sentenced to 70 years in prison on Wednesday.
Demarco Varnes-Appling pleaded guilty to one count of burglary causing damages in excess of $1,000, aggravated battery on a law enforcement officer, two counts of aggravated assault on law enforcement officer, and grand theft auto.
According to court documents, Varnes-Appling, 22, used a stolen van to try and break into the Best Buy at 9355 Atlantic Blvd. in July 2011.
Police said Varnes-Appling then tried to ram two police cars before hitting a third.
Varnes-Appling has seven additional burglary cases pending.
