Man sentenced to life for sexually abusing 7-year-old girl

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. -

A 39-year-old Jacksonville man was sentenced this week to two life terms for the sexual abuse of a 7-year-old girl.

Clifton Brooks was also designated a sexual predator. He was convicted this month on charges of sexual battery and lewd or lascivious molestation.

Brooks sexually abused the girl between 2003 and 2005. Authorities became aware of the crime when the victim told her mother.

Two other girls victimized by the defendant when they were young came forward and testified against him.
