JACKSONVILLE, Fla. -

A man convicted last month in the 2009 killing of another man was sentenced Thursday to life in prison.

Lee Johnson was found guilty of first-degree murder in the death of Kenneth Pittman. He was also convicted of attempted armed robbery.

Johnson and two co-defendants, Earl Johnson and Lamont Brown, went to Pittman's home intending to rob him, prosecutors said. They said Brown drove both Johnsons to the victim's home and stayed in the car while the Johnsons went to the door.

When Pittman answered the door, he was shot in the chest. Brown and the Johnsons then left the area.

Brown pleaded guilty to a charge of accessory after the fact. Earl Johnson pleaded to a charge of second-degree murder.
