A man convicted in November of attempted first-degree murder with a firearm and aggravated battery with a firearm was sentenced Wednesday to life in prison.
Torrence Denegal, 27, shot Robert Durden in April 2011 in a Palatka bar over an ongoing dispute between their two families.
A woman was hit in the foot by a stray bullet the night of the shooting.
After Assistant State Attorney Ken Janesk proved that Denegal qualified as a prison release re-offender because he committed the crime a year after being released from prison, Circuit Judge Carlos E. Mendoza was required to sentence Denegal to the maximum on each charge.
