A Jacksonville man was sentenced to 30 years in prison on Friday for trying to kill his wife.
A jury convicted Jay Kennedy in May of attempted first-degree murder.
In December 2010, Kennedy drove from Georgia to his wife’s job at a hair salon in the Norwood Flea Market. There, he slashed his wife’s face and tried to stab her.
Kennedy is considered a habitual offender. His past criminal history includes convictions for pointing a firearm, and possession of a firearm by a convicted felon.
Assistant State Attorneys Terrence Martin and Jessica Narducci handled the case.
