LAKE CITY, Fla. -

Police in Lake City are looking for a man they said robbed a Family Dollar store on U.S. Highway 90 West on Thursday night.

Police were called to the store at 4534 S.W. Heritage Oak Circle just before 9:30 p.m.

They said the man robbed the store after it closed and then fled on foot.

Police said two employees were suddenly approached by the man after closing the store and locking the front door. They said the man was wearing a white T-shirt as a mask covering half of his face.

The employees were trying to close out the registers when the robber, who was hiding in the back of the
store prior to closing, approached them and told them to "get down," police said.

The robber had a black T-shirt wrapped around his hand, leading the employees to believe that he had a gun, police said. The man then forced them to the back of the store, taped their hands together and left them in the bathroom, telling them to stay there, police said.

The robber stole cash from the registers and fled the scene in an unknown direction, police said.

K-9 teams from the Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission and the Department of Corrections quickly responded to the area, but were not able to find the man.

Anyone with any information on the robber's identity or whereabouts is asked to call the Lake City Police
Department anonymously on the tip line at 386-719-2068.
