Memorial held for slain woman
Tara Hawkins' body discovered last week
A memorial was held for a woman whose body was found last week after she disappeared on June 1.
Tara Hawkins' remains were found in a wooded area off Philips Highway in South Metro on June 11.
Hawkins was last seen at Emperor's Gentlemen's Club on University Boulevard, where she worked as a waitress. Her body was found about 2 miles away.
Police suspect foul play in her death.
At a memorial on Tuesday night, Lori Lareau, who organized the memorial service remembered Hawkins for her smile.
"She was a big smile, and dynamic and giving," said Lareau.
Lareau worked with Hawkins when she was in the real estate business.
"I think it's a real tragic, myself. It's just unfortunate society has come to this now days. No one is safe, man or woman," said Larry Atwell, a former coworker.
