A Miami-Dade student was hospitalized early Tuesday morning after being shot while on a school bus on the way to school.
According to Miami-Dade County Police, the student was riding in a private-chartered school bus when the shooting occurred.
Detective Alvaro Zabaleta confirmed that the child was airlifted to Miami Children's Hospital but has not released any details about the child's identity, age or sex. Four Miami-Dade Police officers have been seen at Miami Children's Hospital this morning.
It's still unclear where the bullet came from.
WPLG's Carlos Suarez spoke to the mother of a student who was also riding on the bus at the time. She says the bus takes students to three schools and that the driver had just started the route.
