Grand Jury Indicts 4 In Separate Homicide Cases

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. -

A Duval County grand jury on Thursday indicted four people on murder charges, including a young mother accused in the abuse death of her 3-month-old son.

Alexandra Tobias, 21, appeared before a judge Friday morning on charges of aggravated child abuse and murder and was ordered held without bond.

Tobias is accused of shaking 3-month-old Dylan Edmondson so hard he was hospitalized with a head injury and broken leg. He died at the hospital.

According to the arrest report, Tobias admitted to shaking the baby because he was crying while she played a game on Facebook. Police said Tobias shook the baby three times, and the baby's head could have hit the computer.

In other indictments released Thursday included:

  • Malcolm Thrower, 17, who is accused in the stabbing death of 58-year-old Marilyn Russell in Baldwin.
  • Thomas Lester, 53, accused in the beating death of his mother, 81-year old Vivian Williams.
  • Jonathan Hartley, 15, who is accused in the shooting death of pizza delivery driver Sarah Hotham.
