A local mother OUTRAGED... after what happened to her son on a school trip. There are markings across his body ...after a life-threatening, allergic reaction. She says he made it to the hospital just in time, even though the school REFUSED to call for help. 3 Misty Tressler says her son was bitten by some sort of insect on Tuesday, while she was chaperoning his field trip to the zoo. She says she didn't know how bad his reaction was until they got BACK to the school. And when she asked school officials to call 9-1-1, they told her NO...claiming it would disrupt dismissal for everyone else. Channel 4's Ashley Harding talked to the child's mother and joins us now live from Merrill Road Elementary in Arlington. Ashley, first off-- how is the boy doing? 3 3 0-553-581:20-1:25Misty Tressler has asked that we not show her son Adam's face...but she is very thankful he's alright ...after he was bitten by an insect during a school field trip to the zoo Tuesday. 30:50--30:57 "I walked straight toward my son and when I did, his foot was so swollen and his leg looked like it was about to pop." TRACK Tressler says it wasn't until they had gotten back to the boy's school when she realized how bad it actually was.Not only had his foot swollen, but he had broken out in hives all over his face, and it was hard to walk. 31:46--31:55 "My son told me he felt like he had to throw up. I said, baby, are you okay? He said, no, mom, I'm not feeling good'. The next think you know, he eyes went in the back of his head." TRACK Tressler says from there, she begged school administrators to call 9-1-1...only to be told no. She says she was told it would disrupt the flow of traffic as parents lined up to pick up their children.31:25--31:36 "No, ma'am. It like fine to us. We're not going to cause this chaos at school. If you want to have the ambulance, but that's your choice, but you're going to have to leave our campus...we're not having this chaos at this school." TRACK Tressler says she called 911 herself and Adam was immediately rushed by ambulance to Wolfson Children's hospital. She says the EMTs told her his injury could've been life-threatening and he should have gone sooner. Adam recalls that ride to the hospital.46:42--46:53 "I was like, I want out. I want out of this truck. I was too scared. But if I had went with her, I wouldn't have survived." TRACK School officials tell channel 4 Tressler signed Adam out for thr day after they got back...legally putting him in her custody.Either way, Tressler believes the school should have acted.35:09--35:16 " I could not imagine my life without my child. I was so mad at the school because my baby could have died at that school." 3 At no point during the school day or outing did we notice or were alerted of a child's need for medical care.It was not until after the child had been checked out from school by a parent and was departing from the campus that we.... ...learned of the parent's interest in medical treatment. In an effort to support immediate attention and access that was restricted by cars parked in the pick-up circle, we offered support and encouraged the parent to notify the...medical team to park near the school's entrance. This was only done in an effort to facilitate access and care with consideration and priority for the child's needs. 3 3 3 Ashley, did Adam's mother ever find out exactly what bit him?
