A 67-year-old motorcyclist was struck by an SUV and killed Friday morning in southern St. Johns County, according to the Sheriff's Office.

Deputies said Donald Dumond, of St. Augustine, was riding westbound in the left lane on Lewis Point Road when a Toyota SUV traveling from a parking lot in the area struck him.

Dumond was flown to Orange Park Medical Center, where he died.

Deputies said the cause of the crash is under investigation. They said speed is being considered as a factor.
