Moviegoers spooked by man with sub sandwich

The Epic Theatres off State Road 207 was briefly evacuated Thursday afternoon after receiving reports of a man with a shotgun, but St. Johns County deputies determined what moviegoers saw was a man trying to sneak a sub sandwich into the theater.

Deputies responded to the theater at 1:55 p.m. and quickly found the alleged suspect. Detectives interviewed the man and ascertaining he did not have a gun. Everyone was allowed back into the building without further incident.

There were no arrests, but possibly some embarrassment.  The type of sandwich was not disclosed.
