Neighbor Accused Of Killing Teen With Bat Pleads Not Guilty
Published On: Oct 14 2011 02:31:48 PM EDT Updated On: Jul 14 2006 08:19:25 AM EDTA man accused of beating his neighbor to death with a baseball bat has pleaded not guilty on Thursday to one count of first-degree murder.
Justin McCarthy, 26, is accused of getting involved in a fight between 18-year-old Michael Ankney and his girlfriend at her Berry Street home on June 18.
According to investigators, McCarthy beat Ankney in the head with a baseball bat. The teen later died due to his injuries three days later.
McCarthy, initially charged with second-degree murder, was arraigned on a charge of first-degree murder. He is due back in court next week.
