New lease offer for supervisor of elections' office
Southgate Plaza landlord cuts cost to attract Duval County office
There's a new proposal to attract the Duval County Supervisor of Elections Office to move to Southgate Shopping Center.
The landlord, Deemetree Brothers, is offering the elections office options for five-year leases. The first four months would be free to offset moving expenses, then the pay $25,000 each month for 50,000 square feet for the rest of the first year. Rent would steadily increase each year after that.
Deemetree Brothers would share some of the cost to improve the building and install a loading dock.
The elections office has been paying $51,000 per month for leased space at Gateway shopping center, but the new owner of that property has offered to cut the rate in half and make $450,000 in improvements.
Supervisor of Elections Jerry Holland has asked that the city to build a new office on city-owned property to avoid leasing warehouse space, but the Southgate Plaza offer and another from a Northside office complex were received after the city put out a request for proposals for lease options.
