Authorities say a 26-year-old man is accused of beating his father with a baseball bat and shooting him in the head.
According to Marion County Sheriff's officials 51-year-old Thomas C. Hubbard died Monday, a day after getting into an argument with his son over his alleged drug use. Deputies say the father also believed Kyle Wayne Hubbard had been stealing from him.
The Ocala Star-Banner reports the elder Hubbard was on the phone with his estranged wife when the confrontation began. She says she drove to the home when the phone went dead.
Detectives say Hubbard was hit twice with a baseball bat and shot once.
The mother called 911.
Deputies found the son in the front yard when they arrived. He is being held in jail without bond.
