following... the Jacksonville Sheriff's Office is grieving over the death of an officer killed in a head-on crash with a semi-truck. Last night at 10, we learned that Officer Tchenter Wilson, a 15 year veteran - died in that shortly before 8 on Busch Drive near Whittaker Road. Sheriff John Rutherford released this statement: "This is a sad day for the men and women of the Jacksonville Sheriff's Office. Officer Tchenter Wilson, a 15 year veteran of our agency was killed tonight in a crash, while off duty in his personal vehicle. Anytime we lose one of our JSO family it is difficult. Our prayers are with the Wilson family, and we stand ready to assist them and his many friends in any way we can." According to the Florida Highway Patrol, Wilson was killed on Busch Drive when his SUV crossed the center line into the other lane and struck an 18-wheeler head on. Wilson was taken to UF Health where he later died. This video shows how badly the front end of that semi was damaged on impact. The driver of the semi was not hurt. FHP has confirmed that this dash cam video is now part of their investigation. They say it shows Wilson's SUV well before the crash...crossing the center line to pass another semi-truck. The video was captured by a FedEX driver, who says he had to pull off the road to let the SUV pass through his lane. 3 3 3 3 3 3 _0829BC 07 58 17 ITS KINDA HARD TO DETERMINE SPEED AT THIS POINT...AS PART OF THE INVESTIGATION.BUT TO 0828 07 47 52 I CANT SPEAK TO THE DETAILS OF THE INVESTIGATION. ..THAT IS A FACTOR IN ALL OF OUR INVESTIGATIONS. 3 The driver of the semi truck was identified by FHP as 50-year-old Timothy Thomas.
